- Products & Materials
What materials is your jewelry made of?
At NIKAYA we work only with precious metals such as gold and silver. Diamonds and gemstones are selected with the greatest care, because we believe in beauty that lasts.
Do you use natural diamonds and other gemstones?
At NIKAYA we believe in the authentic beauty of nature, so we use exclusively natural diamonds and gemstones, carefully sourced from trusted suppliers. Each stone carries its own story and is certified by recognized gemological institutes, which guarantees its quality, clarity and origin. In this way your jewelry becomes not just an adornment, but an eternal legacy.
As a boutique goldsmith, we can adapt to your wishes and, if you explicitly request it, we can also create jewelry with lab-grown diamonds. Share your wishes with us at sales@nikayajewelry.com.
Are your diamonds and gemstones certified?
Yes. Our diamonds are certified by renowned gemological institutes (GIA, IGI, etc.), which confirm their authenticity and quality. For smaller diamonds and other gemstones (up to 0.15 ct), we also issue our own certificate of authenticity, which includes confirmation of the gemstones used.
What is a “brilliant”?
A brilliant is not a special type of diamond, but a type of cut. It is the most luminous and popular diamond cut, usually with 57 or 58 facets. This particular cut allows light to disperse perfectly within the stone and shine in that characteristic fire and sparkle. So when we say “brilliant”, we mean a diamond cut in a brilliant cut – the most prized and sought-after because it brings out all the beauty of the stone.
What is the difference between a diamond and a brilliant?
A diamond is the gemstone itself – the hardest natural mineral in the world, created deep within the earth. It is the raw material, found in nature in various shapes and sizes. A brilliant is a diamond that has been cut in the special brilliant cut (57 or 58 facets). This cut is designed to draw the maximum amount of light and sparkle from the stone. In other words: every brilliant is a diamond, but not every diamond is a brilliant.
What determines the price of a diamond?
The price of a diamond is defined by the internationally recognised 4C criteria:
- Carat (weight) – The larger the diamond (measured in carats), the rarer and more valuable it is.
- Cut (cut quality) – The quality of the cut determines how beautifully the diamond sparkles. A perfectly proportioned brilliant cut reflects the most light.
- Color (colour) – The most valued are completely colourless diamonds that reflect a pure, white brilliance.
- Clarity (clarity) – The fewer inclusions and natural marks a diamond has, the more precious it is.
In addition to the 4Cs, the price is influenced by:
- certificates (GIA, IGI, etc.),
- shape/cut (princess, oval, emerald, …),
- and the market (supply and demand for certain sizes and colours).
What is a GIA or IGI certificate?
A GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate is an official document confirming the authenticity and characteristics of a diamond or gemstone. It describes the stone according to the 4Cs (carat, cut, color, clarity), as well as its shape, measurements and any special features. This certificate is your guarantee that the diamond you choose is not only beautiful, but has also been examined and graded according to the highest international standards.
Do you work with other gemstones and minerals as well?
At NIKAYA we can fully adapt to your wishes. You can choose from all types of gemstones and minerals – those that carry your most personal story.
How can I find the right ring size?
On our website you will find a ring size guide. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise you and help you determine the perfect size.
Do you offer personalization?
Yes – we create bespoke jewelry: engravings, unique shapes and combinations of gemstones that reflect your personal story. Your stories are limitless. Get in touch with us and we will be delighted to guide you through the process.
What does the gold mark 585 and 570 mean?
This mark tells you how much pure gold is contained in the alloy.
- Gold 585 means that the alloy contains 58.5% pure gold, the rest are other metals (silver, copper, palladium, …) that provide strength and colour. This corresponds to 14-karat gold, loved because it combines beauty and durability.
- Gold 570 means that the alloy contains 57% pure gold.
Both purities are suitable for jewelry; the choice depends on your preference. 585 is slightly more resistant for everyday wear, while higher gold content gives an even richer feeling of luxury.
What does the mark 925 mean?
The mark 925 refers to silver and means that the alloy contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals (most commonly copper). This alloy is known as sterling silver and is the internationally recognised standard for high-quality silver jewelry.
The addition of other metals makes silver harder and more suitable for everyday wear, since pure silver (999) is too soft for jewelry making.
What is rhodium plating?
Rhodium plating is a process in which jewelry made of white gold or silver is coated with a micro-layer of rhodium, a precious metal from the platinum group. This thin layer gives the jewelry a beautiful bright white shine, protects it from scratches and oxidation, and creates a luxurious look.
Over time the rhodium layer can wear off, so we recommend occasional re-plating to keep your jewelry radiant and timeless.
Can you add an engraving to a ring?
Yes, with great pleasure. Engraving is a beautiful way to add a personal touch to your ring – a name, date, short message or symbol that holds special meaning for you. Each engraving is executed carefully and can be tailored to your wishes. This way the ring becomes not only a precious piece of jewelry, but also an intimate story you carry with you always. Simply share your idea with us at sales@nikayajewelry.com.
What if my ring size is not listed in the menu?
No worries – if your size is not shown in the selection, just contact us. We can adjust almost every ring to your exact measurements so it fits perfectly. We will help you determine the right size and make sure your ring feels comfortable and elegant, as if it were made just for you – because it is.
- Care & Warranty
How should I properly care for my jewelry?
We recommend storing your jewelry in a soft box and occasionally cleaning it with a jewelry polishing cloth. Avoid contact with aggressive cleaning agents and cosmetics.
Do you offer a warranty on your products?
Yes. Every piece of jewelry comes with a 12-month warranty on the quality of materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Mechanical damage, improper use or use contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions are not covered by the warranty.
What should I do if my jewelry loses its shine?
Precious metal is a living, natural material that gets scratched and worn over time. You can bring your jewelry to NIKAYA for professional cleaning and restoration – and it will shine again like the very first day.
Why does silver tarnish?
Silver is a noble metal that can darken over time due to the natural process of oxidation. When it comes into contact with air, moisture, sulphur or even cosmetics and perfumes, a darker layer forms on the surface. This does not mean that the silver is of poor quality – quite the opposite, it is a sign that it is genuine silver. Tarnishing is completely natural and easily removed: you can clean the jewelry with a special silver polishing cloth, which you receive free of charge when purchasing in NIKAYA, or bring it to our atelier where we will professionally clean it and restore its shine.
- Returns & Exchanges
Can I return a product if I change my mind?
Yes, you can return products within 14 days in their original packaging. Unfortunately, returns are not possible for unique and personalised pieces made to order.
What should I do if the product is damaged upon arrival?
Please inform us immediately. We will arrange an exchange or repair of the item.
How does a ring size exchange work?
If the ring does not fit, send it back to us. After prior agreement, we will adjust it to the correct size whenever technically possible.
